Vermont Overland 2021 – A New Era

"Vermont Overland 2021 – A New Era." It's a headline we couldn't have predicted, yet is so fitting. Vermont Overland had an epic year with our community to thank. As we look ahead to what's next, we can't help but reminisce about the fantastic year we've had.

What we're thankful for...

  • The 1500 people that signed up for The Overland in 2021

  • The volunteers who worked tirelessly to set up banners, check people in, direct parking, prepare food, debate the number of zip ties needed, and so much more.

  • The crazy people who signed up to run the RIVAL Mountain Mile the evening before their race...

  • The sponsors who guided you through the course, got your bikes dialed, kept you fueled, supported you on course, kept you dry in style, and kept the mud out of your eyes.

  • The Brownsville Butcher & Pantry who DIDN'T SLEEP for 4 nights to keep 1500 people fed.

  • Ascutney Outdoors for their hospitality and incredible views.

  • The crowd of bike racers with racing on their minds pausing to cheer for Gertrude to say YES.

  • And of course, our community! The outpouring of love and congratulations throughout the inter-webs as everyone crossed the finish line was a wonderful reminder of why this race is so special.

What's next?

The hard work of getting ready for 2022 began many yesterdays from today. There's a lot to do and not much time, but we're pumped about what's ahead. Because things are still in flux, we can't tell you too much, but here are some of the highlights:

  • The race will take place on Saturday, August 27th (rather than Sunday). We want to make sure that everyone has a chance to enjoy themselves after the ride. The change to Saturday allows us to do just that. Prepare yourself for the most incredible post-race celebration you've ever attended.

  • We're exploring a few tweaks to the course to ensure less cloggedge at key class-4 pinch points.

  • More. Women. On. Bikes. We plan to add more women's course preview ride options throughout the year and support more women riding the Overland.

  • More details will be coming soon… but first…

REGISTRATION!

Lastly, we want to remind you that registration day is (always) January 1st at 10 am. The event sells out fast, so mark your calendars, load your BikeReg page, and be ready to go. We'll have a hard cap at 1500 riders, with built-in limits to accommodate more female riders. (Yes dudes, that means fewer spots for you.)

We want to close with a heartfelt thank you. To everyone who has ever signed up for our race, volunteered their time and energy, supported the event in any way possible, or cheered on those of us brave enough to attempt it.

We couldn't do this without your support!
