NEW EVENT: The Overland TRAIL (run)

Friends!

I hope this note finds you well and ready for warmer, dryer, and less beige mud-season-esque dirt roads.

It’s been a long winter! We skied, then didn’t ski, then skied some more, and also sold out The Overland pretty darn quick. There are still a few spots reserved for any woman who wants to give it a try, so spread the word.

The real reason for this post is somewhat against the grain and isn’t related to bikes. If you follow me on Strava, you’ll know that over the past couple of years I’ve fallen in love with running. The simplicity of movement, the places you realize you can go without a bike, and the harsh challenge it presents to your body have kept me coming back. This has inspired me to create a running-specific event with the same formula that gave The Overland much of its success.

I’m pleased to introduce The Overland TRAIL, a 15 or 6-mile trail run on May 30th, 2022, that’s unlike anything the running world has seen before. It’s not an ultra. It’s not a half marathon. It’s not a pure trail race. It’s an Overland. If you’ve done any of our events in the past, you’ll know what that means.

Registration for The Overland TRAIL will open on April 6th at 8 AM. Folks can choose between a 15-mile Overland TRAIL or a 6-mile Overland PATH. Zero Gravity will be buying everyone their first beer, and meals are included in the entry. We’re also excited to have a healthy $5K cash purse for our top-place finishers in the 15-mile Overland TRAIL split evenly between the top 5 male and female finishers. All details can be found on our website here.

With support from Tracksmith, Wahoo, Untapped, Julbo, ROKO, Zero Gravity and The Brownsville Butcher & Pantry, we’re excited to get this off the ground and hopefully create something truly fun for years to come.

The Overland TRAIL will benefit both Ascutney Outdoors and Ascutney Trails Association. These organizations are the reasons we’re able to enjoy West Windsor on bike and foot.

I hope you’ll help me spread the word and brave a running event. And I’ll see you sooner than you think in August (:

All the best,

  • Ansel and The Vermont Overland Team
